Sacrifices in Life

Daily writing prompt
What sacrifices have you made in life?

To have a happy, healthy baby, I made many sacrifices. I was willing to carry a baby for 40 weeks. I stayed up many nights caring for him and pumping for breastmilk (to keep it coming).

And I spend most of my time with him, sacrificing hobbies, or solo time, or time pursuing my interests.

But in the end, none of it feels like a sacrifice, because I love him so much!!

To follow Christ, I made many sacrifices. I lost all my new age friends. I lost my popularity online. I lost all the Tarot cards, books, and crystals I had purchased ($$$).

And I spend most of my free time reading the Bible. I wake up early to go to church every Sunday. I go to Bible study, even though I have social anxiety.

But in the end, none of it feels like a sacrifice, because I love Him so much!!

When there’s so much love, nothing feels like a sacrifice and everything feels like a GAIN!

Take care and God bless,

  1. Compared to knowing Jesus all things in the past are like what Paul wrote in Philippians Chapter 3:
“7 But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. 8 What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in[a] Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith.”

    • Yessss 🙌 It might sound a little harsh, but a lot of the stuff I lost I don’t even miss, and I even consider it garbage now. That is so true. Except for a few friends, I don’t miss anything from before I knew Christ.

It felt like a sacrifice at first, but as I continued to walk with Christ, I realized that it was unimportant stuff I was letting go of. Thanks so much for sharing that 😊

  2. Really enjoyed your post. You are so right, the things we do or stop doing out of love makes the sacrifice sweet. I love that: 1 John 4:19 KJV — We love him, because he first loved us. Blessings to you and your family.
